About Telene
Telene Jeffrey is an exceptional quilter, designer, and free motion quilt teacher hailing from South Africa. As a Handi Quilter International Ambassador and a South African Quilters Guild Accredited Quilt Teacher, Telene has been awarded numerous accolades for her exceptional quilts, earning the prestigious Master Quilter Status from the SAQG. Her remarkable creations have been showcased on international platforms, reflecting her dedication and skill.
Telene’s journey into the world of quilting began at a young age, inspired by her mother who taught her to sew. This early passion for sewing evolved into a profound love for free motion quilting. With a B Tech in Interior Architecture, Telene’s design talent was further honed. During her studies, she became actively involved in her parents’ sewing machine dealership, where she gave regular classes in basic and advanced sewing techniques.
In January 2011, Telene transitioned from the corporate world to teaching basic patchwork classes. This soon expanded into quilting for clients with a specialization in custom free motion quilting. Her expertise and innovative techniques have made her a sought-after instructor at both local and international events, and she continues to inspire and educate through virtual classes conducted from her home.
Telene’s creative talent is evident in her own line of whole cloth quilt patterns designed for free motion quilters. She collaborates with Full Line Stencil Company and Honest Fabrics, where her unique designs are featured on versatile stencils and printed fabric panels. Her artistic vision extends to custom printed merchandise, and her quilt designs are now available in digital format for computer-aided quilters.
Free motion quilting is Telene’s ultimate passion, and she firmly believes that everyone has the potential to quilt. Her mission is to inspire her students to take the leap, knowing that once they start, they will never look back.
